You can have a 32 or 40 pin GBA -and- a 32 or 40pin SP 101 screen. So with the cable I linked you need to match 32 pin GBA to 32 pin 101 screen and order the 32 pin cable. If I were you I would find a 32 pin GBA to match my 32 pin 101 screen and use a 32 pin cable. Or I will research the extra brightness switch cable and order that.
I haven't looked into this for a while, but IIRC GBA screen swaps work like this: AGS-001 into AGB-001 won't work. AGS-101 into AGS-001 won't work. AGS-101 into AGB-001 will work, two versions of AGB-001 exist, version specific adapter cable required for swap. I am talking about the kids that existed long long before the GBA:SP was announced, when the GBA was still new). Then, the newer backlight kits were apparently actually left-over AGS-101 screen stock, and those just recently disappeared.
Sounds like you could just do that rather than trying to source an OEM one out of another game boy which would probably cost more.
